What is bracket orthodontic treatment?

Dental bracket orthodontic treatment is a dental treatment method that corrects the alignment of teeth and provides a beautiful smile and healthy oral cavity.

Definition

This treatment method attaches brackets to each tooth and connects them with wires to gradually move the teeth to the desired position. Brackets can be made of metal, ceramic, or plastic, and they work with wires to adjust the teeth into alignment.

 Purpose

Bracket orthodontic treatment is used to correct a variety of dental problems such as teeth misalignment, bite problems, overcrowding, and lack of space. This not only improves aesthetics, but also improves oral health and helps prevent dental problems in the long term.

Advantages

Existing brackets are also made of various materials such as ceramic brackets, so they look better, have a higher orthodontic effect, shorten the correction period, and have high stability after correction.

 Disadvantages of bracket orthodontic treatment

Although bracket orthodontic treatment has many benefits, there are some disadvantages to consider as well.

 Discomfort and pain

The brackets and wires may feel uncomfortable in your mouth for the first few weeks. Additionally, temporary pain may occur whenever the teeth are adjusted during the treatment process.

 Difficulty maintaining cleanliness

Brackets and wires can make it difficult to keep your teeth clean. This is due to tooth decay or gum disease. This may increase your risk, so good oral hygiene is necessary.

 Treatment period

Bracket orthodontic treatment generally requires 2-3 years and in some cases lasts for several years. This is a treatment method that requires long-term cooperation, effort, and patience from the patient.

 Dietary restrictions

You may need to avoid certain hard or starchy foods while receiving orthodontic treatment. This is because there is a risk that these foods may damage the bracket or dislodge the wire.

Aesthetic considerations

Traditional metal brackets are noticeable, and some patients may find them aesthetically unappealing. There are alternatives such as ceramic brackets, but these may incur additional costs.
